Souding out Consonant and Vowel COn't
All the vowels are going to look the same, but the vowels will sound different depending on a particular consonant.
For the consonant that has an "or" sound at the end(e.g; gor, kor, ngor, jor chor, nyor, dor, to, dtor, tor, nor, bpor, por, yor, ror, lor, wor) they are a slightly off when you sound out it with the vowels. They do not follow the rules described above. For example: GOR + AH = GAH GOR sat AH = GAH ("to marry" in Khmer) instead it's GOR sat AH = GEER General Rule: sat AH becomes sat EER sat ET becomes sat IT You just going to give it a softer sound with the "-or" consonants. Don't worry too much. Where you begin to read, you'll know what sound right and what doesn't. You have to listen to how the consonants with "or" sound at the end , sounds with the vowels. As you will notice a few will not sound as you may think when you sound it out. I'm going to leave it up to you do listen careful and find the ones that does not follow the vowel sounding rules. There like 2-4 of them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Let's see where VOWEL and CONSONANT GO.Copyright © 1999, Pok Khem . All rights reserved. |
